The Issue

Just several days before Thanksgiving of 2025, my family's world was turned upside down. My two children, my husband, and I had our water turned off because a $500+ balance was suddenly added to our account without clear explanation. Now, another mysterious $400 balance has been tacked on. We have done everything possible to check for leaks, but the Johnstown Water Authority insists that the issue is on our end, claiming it to be a 'leak'. They even went so far as to laugh at us on the phone when my husband and I mentioned taking legal action.

We are not alone in this fight. Many families across Johnstown are facing similar issues with incorrect billing, unexplained charges, and mishandling of customer accounts by the Johnstown Water Authority. Astonishingly, this mistreatment and lack of accountability continue to undermine our trust and strain community relationships.

Water is a basic necessity, and its access should not be jeopardized by inconsistent billing practices and inadequate customer support. It is unacceptable for any utility company to operate in such a manner without facing repercussions. The Johnstown Water Authority needs to be held accountable for its actions and provide necessary corrections and transparency.

I am reaching out to those who have faced these challenges, seeking your support to bring about much-needed reform within the Johnstown Water Authority. We need to call for an external audit to ensure billing accuracy, demand a transparent review process for disputed charges, and establish a robust and compassionate customer service approach to address grievances effectively and respectfully.
