Demand accountability, respect and change from USPS in Pioneer, CA
The Issue
(EDIT: Please make sure to comment IN DETAIL the ways this post office has disrespected you or your mail rights, or denied you proper service at their convenience along with what you want to see change or implemented, the more detail the better. this will be sent to the highest up it can go once we have enough signatures!)
I've only been a resident of Pioneer, CA for three months, but as a son of a Post-Master parent, the lack of respectful service at the USPS here is impossible to ignore. What I've witnessed and experienced in such a short time is deeply concerning (picture is of my actual packages in the street) & quite frankly, shocking. From reading countless online reviews stemming from leaving packages out in the rain to ABUSING the AMAZON system to intentionally withhold packages/send them back to first-hand accounts of disheartening service, a clear pattern emerges. This community deserves far better than the indifference displayed by our local USPS branch.
The majority of residents, especially our valued elders, often share stories of inappropriate package delivery antics—ranging from mishandling deliveries to outright disrespect. The trust between our community and vital services like USPS is paramount. When this trust is repeatedly violated, action becomes necessary for rightful change, so lets start here & lets REALLY hold them accountable.
The USPS in Pioneer must be held accountable for its services and respect our community members deserve by following their own policies & training. Clear, actionable changes need to be implemented, such as:
1. Improved package handling protocols to ensure all deliveries are timely and packages are treated with care, like not leaving packages in the rain/sun near the street or out in the open for passing cars to see, but AT THE DOOR or on the DECK. No exceptions. (Packages may contain sensitive items like prescription medication etc.)
2. Better customer service training for USPS staff to foster a respectful and helpful environment for all patrons.
3. Establishing a dedicated feedback system where residents can directly voice concerns and suggestions for ongoing improvement instead of withholding the local branch's direct number.
4. No more abusing of AMAZON's online package delivery system. [via marking packages as undeliverable despite there being no issue. etc]
5. Implement large trash bins as this is a RURAL community & forested, the less potential risk of litter the better. No exceptions.
6. No more taking advantage of the elder or the naive, by lying about mailbox locations. This especially goes for residents who live along a route to the CBUs/cluster mailboxes. Theres no reason they should not be entitled to their own mailbox. No exceptions.
7. Better delivery practices such as: disallowing non-USPS employees whether contracted or not, from driving around USPS employees with federal mail. NOBODY should be in possession of FEDERAL MAIL except the USPS employee. No exceptions.
8. Exercise the FULL scope of your position such as: being able to lift/carry up to 70lbs & stop manipulating the "team lift" stickers by having residents come pick up their packages despite the weight being well under your position requirement. Both USPS employees & contractors are obligated by the 70lb weight limit. No Exceptions.
These are reasonable and essential steps towards rebuilding trust with the community and ensuring that residents receive the service they are entitled to.
The time for change is now yall. This mess has been hindering this community for FAR too long. Sign this petition to demand accountability and a commitment to superior service from our local USPS branch. Together, we can ensure that our voices are heard and respected. Help us make these necessary changes a reality.
Im aiming for at least over 20 signatures to request a full & transparent, independent investigation into the ins & outs of the Pioneer USPS located on HWY 88.
Please be the change you want to see in this world, IT STARTS NOW.
