We, the residents of Dearborn, call for the immediate removal of Chief Issa Shahien from the Dearborn Police Department. Recently, a community member reached out in fear for his life, reporting that he was under threat. Instead of offering protection, Chief Shahien dismissed him with the shocking words: “Call us after you’re dead.”

Yesterday, that same resident was deliberately struck by a vehicle — a tragedy that highlights the deadly cost of ignoring urgent pleas for help. Chief Shahien’s failure to act, protect, and serve has placed our entire community in danger.

The Dearborn Police Department must be led by someone who takes threats seriously, values every life, and respects the duty to safeguard residents. Chief Shahien has shown he is unfit for this role.
