North Lanarkshire Council has paid out a reported £31 million in an out-of-court settlement to Amey OW Ltd and not a single councillor was asked to vote on it.

There was:

• No public committee report.
• No financial disclosure.
• No democratic approval from elected members.

This shocking use of public money has come to light only after media exposure, and the Council Leader still remains silent with no comment on who authorised it, or why it was hidden from councillors and the public.

We are calling on Council Leader Jim Logue to resign immediately.

As the political head of the administration, Cllr Logue bears ultimate responsibility for the culture of secrecy and financial mismanagement that has allowed this to happen. While communities are told there’s no money for basic services, a potential £31 million black hole has been quietly created without transparency or accountability.

If the roles were reversed, Jim Logue would be the first to call for someone else’s resignation.

The people of North Lanarkshire deserve better. They deserve open leadership that puts residents before politics and public interest before party loyalty.

We believe residents deserve clear answers and that no political leader should be allowed to quietly sign off tens of millions in public money without scrutiny.

This goes beyond politics it’s about integrity.
