The Issue
I am sharing this petition after experiencing a devastating loss that no pet owner should have to endure. Today is a hard day for me as I recall losing my beloved pets, Jaz and Joi.
On December 15, 2023, my dog Jaz passed away after her condition deteriorated following medication. I put my trust in the veterinary care system, only to be left with heartbreak and unanswered questions. Unfortunately, this nightmare didn’t end there.
In 2024, while still grappling with the loss of Jaz, I faced another harrowing ordeal with my dog Joi. I visited multiple veterinary hospitals, desperately seeking help to save her. Instead of finding solutions, I encountered delays in treatment, constantly changing recommendations, and overwhelming pressure. My efforts proved futile, and Joi's life ended as painfully as Jaz’s.
The loss of Jaz and Joi is not just a personal tragedy—it's a profound indicator of the systemic failures within veterinary care. Pet owners nationwide put their faith in veterinary professionals whose responsibility it is to provide timely and effective care. Unfortunately, stories like mine aren’t uncommon. According to a report by VetSuccess, miscommunications and delays in treatment contribute to increasingly alarming outcomes in veterinary care.
What happened to Jaz and Joi should compel us to rethink how veterinary care is delivered and monitored. Veterinary clinics and hospitals must prioritize transparency, standardized protocols, and timely interventions. By implementing better training practices and clearer communication channels, we can dramatically improve the quality of care our pets receive.
We call upon veterinary boards and associations to enforce stringent guidelines and accountability measures to prevent further heartbreaks. It’s time for a systemic overhaul to ensure that our pets receive the life-saving care they deserve and that pet owners can trust the system designed to protect the ones they love.
I created this petition not only out of the pain from losing Jaz and Joi but out of a determination to prevent others from suffering the same sorrow.
Please sign and share this petition—your support would mean the world to me and countless other pet owners who just want the best for their furry family members. Together, we can make sure no pet owner has to endure this pain again.
