I am writing from a place of deep pain and distress, compelled by a situation that has caused immense distress to our family. Our two-year-old son, TL, who will turn 3 on April 14, was removed from our care and is now in the custody of the Ministry of Child and Family Development. The provincial court judge has given guardianship over to them and they do not want us reunified. Our family has been shattered; four sisters, a loving mother, and a father are yearning for the return of their little ray of sunshine, their brother, their son. 

This is not just a personal issue, it is about the overreach of power by MCFD who have unjustly dissected a family without due cause. Our son is not a case number; he is a child who has been wrongfully stripped of the loving comfort of his family, and is allowed to see us only twice a week under very strict, meritless guidelines.

In the United States, it has been reported that families are twice as likely to be reunited if services are provided in a family setting rather than the foster care system (Child Welfare Information Gateway, 2013).

The Lim family, like many others affected by the decisions of MCFD, demands accountability. By signing this petition, you are not only supporting the cause for our son, Theo's return, but you're also standing with countless other families who have been unjustly ripped apart.
