On November 19th, 2024, Oden, an 11-month-old husky puppy innocently ventured from his backyard into the nearby woods. Mistaken as a coyote by a neighbor, our beloved pet became the undesired target of a local animal control officer located in Northbridge, Ma. Without giving him a single chance or trying other measures, the officer shot and killed Oden from 30 feet away, asserting that Oden was charging at him. This purported threat was an innocent puppy possibly running over to greet and play.

As stated in protocols for many Animal Control agencies, officers are required to determine a clear and immediate threat to human safety before using lethal force. Did Oden, still in his puppy months, truly pose a threat from 30 feet away, or did the officer act hastily without considering his actions' profound consequences?

We call upon the relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate this matter and hold the responsible officer accountable for this tragic mistake.
