Demand Accountability for Suspected Manipulation on Polymarket TikTok Ban Vote

Demand Accountability for Suspected Manipulation on Polymarket TikTok Ban Vote
The Issue
We, the undersigned, are calling for immediate transparency and accountability regarding the resolution of the Polymarket poll on whether TikTok will be banned in the US before May 2025.
The poll was resolved as "Yes," despite evidence suggesting potential manipulation by large token holders (whales) who disproportionately influenced the voting outcome through their financial power, as well as discrepancies between the UMA's conclusion and on-the-ground realities. Moreover, Polymarket appears to be disregarding these misalignments, which further erodes trust in their platform’s commitment to fair and transparent market outcomes.
This outcome raises serious concerns about the integrity of Polymarket's platform and its reliance on UMA's oracle system, which appears to have ignored real-world developments and public sentiment. As users of Polymarket, we believe this incident undermines trust in decentralized prediction markets and highlights vulnerabilities that threaten their fairness.
We demand:
- A thorough and transparent investigation into the voting process for this poll.
- An independent audit of the role whales played in determining the outcome.
- A fair and unbiased review of the outcome based on objective information, similarly to what happened with the vote regarding Barron Trump's involvement with DJT coin.
In our opinion, the vote's outcome must be resolved as "Too Early", since TikTok was not fully banned in the United States before May 2025 and extend the voting period till the end of April 2025, as stated in the rules. While the law banning TikTok was upheld and signed into power, its enforcement has been delayed by Biden's administration and execution was passed onto Trump's administration, thus TikTok continues to operate due to negotiations, potential extensions, and the involvement of the incoming administration.
Additionally, Trump's executive order not only provides a 75-day extension but also states the following:
"Department of Justice shall not take any action to enforce the Act or impose any penalties against any entity for any conduct that occurred during the above-specified period or any period prior to the issuance of this order, including the period of time from January 19, 2025, to the signing of this order."
Decentralized systems promise fairness and transparency, but incidents like this erode trust in the ecosystem. It’s time to hold platforms accountable and ensure that all participants, regardless of their financial power, are treated equally.
