This petition is deeply personal to me, as it should be to anyone who believes in justice and the integrity of our legal system. The case at hand involves FBI Agent David Sesma, who mishandled the Denise Huskins case and had an affair with the intended kidnapping victim without removing himself from the investigation.

Victim blaming is abhorrent, especially from those charged to protect us. When David Sesma chose not only to remain involved but also furthered victim blaming, he contributed to a growing mistrust in our legal system. Sexual assault victims already face immense challenges when coming forward; his actions only exacerbate this issue.

His lack of professionalism and ethical conduct makes it possible for serial rapists to evade punishment without feeling a genuine threat of repercussion. According to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), every 73 seconds an American is sexually assaulted; yet only 5 out of every 1,000 perpetrators will end up in prison. This alarming statistic underscores how crucial it is that law enforcement officers like Sesma are held accountable for their actions.
