Demand Accountability and Transparency from ICE

The Issue

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency, a crucial component of the United States' immigration system, has raised significant concerns regarding its aggressive tactics and operations. With an alarming number of reports and incidents underscoring issues of excessive force, lack of transparency, banned restraints and chokeholds and the perception of impunity among some agents, it is imperative that we demand accountability and reform within ICE. It is even speculated that many ICE agents are former right-wing extremists and JC involved individuals formerly pardoned by the president.

Unfortunately. ICE is being used as a partisan weapon of the current President, where ICE agents outnumber police and are essentially invading states without collaboration or consent of the Governor and Mayors of States.  The funding of ICE is bloated, outnumbering the funding of all other enforcement agencies.

One major concern is the widespread use of intimidation tactics by ICE agents, including instances where weapons are drawn and pointed at citizens without just cause.  Such actions not only incite fear but undermine the trust between the community and law enforcement. To address this issue, it is essential to establish clear and strict rules of engagement, coupled with severe sanctions for agents who wield weapons unnecessarily. By doing so, we can work towards creating a safer environment for everyone involved.

Furthermore, the recruitment policies of ICE must be thoroughly revised. It's critical to ban the hiring of individuals affiliated with extremist groups such as the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, and those involved in the January 6th insurrection. Allowing such individuals to serve as agents only exacerbates tensions and endangers the safety of the communities they are supposed to protect.

The implementation of body cameras on all ICE agents should be made mandatory. This measure fosters transparency and accountability, providing an unbiased record of interactions to safeguard both citizens and agents. Additionally, the use of chemical munitions during operations should be strictly prohibited. Such measures are excessively harsh and can lead to severe harm or even fatalities.

Additionally, it's essential to conduct a full independent and transparent investigation into the murder of Renee Goods. The public deserves answers, and justice must be served to demonstrate that violence and misconduct will not be tolerated. If these reforms cannot be made, then ICE will need to be abolished.

Former President Trump's policies have been criticized for their brutal approach and lack of regard for international norms. It's vital to recognize that he no longer has a mandate to continue these policies that promote aggression both domestically and internationally.

Join us in this crucial movement to demand accountability, transparency, and reform in ICE's operations. Your voice is vital in ensuring that the agency operates with integrity and respect for human rights. Sign this petition today and be a part of the change we urgently need.
