Demand Accountability and Justice for the Victims of the Minab School Attack
The Issue
Demand an independent international investigation into the attack on a school in Minab, Iran, and hold all responsible parties accountable for this violation of international humanitarian law and the protection of educational institutions.
As a parent, nothing breaks my heart more than knowing innocent children—who simply went to school to learn and build a future—have lost their lives. Schools must be safe havens, free from violence and military conflict, regardless of geography or politics. No parent should ever have to bury their child for just sending them to class. I am speaking up because every child deserves safety, and silence in the face of such a tragedy compromises the basic human dignity of us all.
To the United Nations Human Rights Council, International Humanitarian Organizations, the United States Government, and the Global Community,
We are initiating this petition to hold the United States Government accountable for a grave violation of international law and fundamental human rights: the devastating military attack on a school in Minab, Iran, which tragically resulted in the loss of life and severe injuries among innocent students.
Educational institutions are strictly protected sanctuaries under international humanitarian law. Article 52 of Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions explicitly mandates that civilian objects—most notably schools—must never be targeted, made the object of military operations, or subjected to collateral destruction. The military targeting of educational infrastructure and the tragic loss of young, innocent lives by U.S. forces constitute an absolute breach of these universally recognized legal norms.
Every child, regardless of nationality, geography, or geopolitical tensions, possesses the fundamental right to safety, education, and life. The destruction of a school strikes at the core of human dignity and international order.
We urgently demand that the U.S. Government and relevant international bodies:
Immediate Independent Investigation: An impartial, transparent, and international inquiry led by the United Nations to investigate the full scope and authorization behind the U.S. attack on the Minab school.
U.S. Accountability and Legal Redress: Full public disclosure, official acknowledgment of responsibility by the United States Government, prosecution of commanders or personnel involved in authorizing this strike, and complete restitution to the victims' families.
Enforcement of Civilian Protections: An immediate cessation of any military operations targeting civilian areas and strict adherence by the U.S. military to international treaties protecting educational facilities in conflict zones.
Silence in the face of such unlawful aggression undermines justice, international law, and human dignity worldwide.
