Emerging technology now makes real-time fact-checking feasible. According to the Poynter Institute, advancements in automated fact-checking initiatives have shown promising results, enabling live annotation of speeches, debates, and other live events (Poynter Institute, 2020).

By adopting these technologies, television networks and organizations sponsoring these debates could play a crucial role in combating spread of misinformation. This petition insists on making live fact-checking an integral part of Presidential debates to preserve the integrity of our democracy.
