My son and I, like many others in Laredo, fell ill due to the high levels of bacteria and E-coli present in our water supply, provided by the city. It is time that we as residents raise our voice against this public health hazard. In the past year, the City of Laredo has repeatedly issued water boil notices [Source: Laredo Health Department], pointing to flagrant inadequacies in the water treatment system.

Every resident has the basic right to clean and safe drinking water. Yet, our water quality is horrendous, becoming a breeding ground for bacteria and posing risk to our health. Exposure to high levels of bacteria and E-coli can lead to numerous health problems, including diarrhoea, urinary tract infections, pneumonia and kidney failure [Source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention].

For the city to continue charging us full price for a service that is causing harm to its residents is unfair and unacceptable. Therefore, we request the city to acknowledge this issue and provide a discount on our water bills until the problem is rectified.

This is a plea for justice for ourselves, for our children, and for the entire city of Laredo. Together, we can and must demand a water bill discount due to the ongoing water contamination. Sign this petition to join our fight for clean, safe water.
