As parents, we have watched our children suffer immeasurably due to the pandemic, desperately working to find their footing in the changing landscape of education. However, the stability and support they needed are being stripped away by the current Pajaro Valley Unified School District Superintendent, Dr. Heather Contreras.

Unfortunately, Dr. Contreras has made decisions that are more detrimental than beneficial, removing programs, classes, teachers, and administrators that are pillars of support for our children. With no effective and open communication in place, many of us have been left in the dark, feeling frustrated and disappointed, adding to the distress we already feel given the current state of the world.

Accurate and timely feedback from educators and parents is fundamental to the successful governance of any academic institution. However, our attempts to communicate our concerns and suggestions have been met with silence. Emails remain unacknowledged, phone calls unanswered, and parent meetings left unattended. The lack of transparency shown here does not bode well for our children's or the district's future.

It is time for our concerns to be addressed, not ignored. To restore trust in our district's leadership, we demand a vote of no confidence in the current Superintendent, Dr. Heather Contreras.
