Demand a Town of Amherst Employment Review Concerning Dwayne J. Princess
The Issue
Demand an Appropriate Town of Amherst Employment Review Concerning Dwayne J. Princess
To the Town of Amherst and the officials responsible for Town personnel matters:
We, the undersigned, request that the Town of Amherst conduct an appropriate employment review concerning Dwayne J. Princess in light of serious allegations documented in Erie County Family Court proceedings.
This petition does not ask the public to determine whether Mr. Princess committed the conduct alleged against him, nor does it present allegations contained in court filings as proven facts.
Instead, we ask the Town of Amherst to obtain and review the appropriate official records, determine what facts it is legally permitted to consider, apply the employment rules and procedures applicable to Mr. Princess’s position, and determine whether any employment or disciplinary action is warranted.
What the Court Documents State
An Erie County Family Court Family Offense Petition identifies Dwayne J. Princess as the respondent.
Within that court filing, the petitioner alleges conduct including assault, strangulation, and harassment.
Regarding an alleged September 18, 2026 incident, the petitioner states that she was punched and strangled, lost consciousness, experienced vomiting and blurred vision, and sustained injuries described in the petition as a concussion and ruptured left eardrum.
The petition further states that Amherst Police responded, that a Domestic Incident Report was completed, and that the petitioner was transported by ambulance for medical treatment.
The Family Court filing also contains allegations concerning additional incidents of physical violence and injuries.
These statements are allegations reported from a filed court proceeding. Their inclusion in a court filing does not, standing alone, establish that the alleged conduct occurred, that the allegations have been adjudicated as true, or that Dwayne J. Princess was convicted of crimes arising from them.
The courts and other appropriate authorities are responsible for determining the legal status and disposition of those proceedings.
What We Are Asking the Town of Amherst to Do
We ask the Town of Amherst to:
- Obtain and review the relevant Family Court, criminal-court, police, and other official records that it is legally permitted to obtain and consider.
- Determine the current status and disposition of the proceedings described in this petition.
- Determine whether any conduct established through appropriate evidence is relevant to Mr. Princess’s employment or violates applicable Town policies, employment standards, civil-service requirements, collective-bargaining provisions, or other applicable law.
- Determine whether the Town has received all information and documentation that it is legally entitled to consider in making employment or disciplinary decisions.
- Provide an appropriate process through which individuals possessing relevant firsthand information or official documentation may submit that information for consideration.
- Take whatever employment or disciplinary action is warranted by the verified evidence and permitted by applicable law and employment procedures, up to and including termination if lawful grounds for termination are established.
- Provide the public with whatever information regarding the Town’s response and resulting action may legally be disclosed.
This Is a Request for Review Not a Declaration of Guilt
This petition does not ask the public to determine whether Mr. Princess committed the conduct alleged in the Family Court proceedings.
It asks the Town of Amherst to review the appropriate records, determine the facts it is legally permitted to consider, apply the appropriate employment standards and procedures, and take whatever action the verified evidence warrants.
Serious allegations documented in filed court proceedings warrant appropriate review.
Obtain the records. Verify the facts. Apply the appropriate standards. Act according to what the evidence establishes.
Public employment requires public accountability.
