Demand a Public Hearing for Ousted Columbia Association Board Members

The Issue

In a troubling move, three elected Columbia Association board members were removed behind closed doors over alleged ethics violations — without the chance to publicly defend themselves. This action not only silences their voices but also strips residents of the representation they voted for and raises serious concerns about transparency, fairness and due process in Columbia’s governance.

During their years of service, Reg Avery, Karin Emery and Eric Greenberg have championed issues that Columbia residents care about, including stewardship of outdoor pools and open space — amenities that contribute to the wellbeing and cohesion of our community.

The Columbia Association Board has long been a pillar of community governance. Dismissing elected representatives without a transparent process undermines the integrity of that institution.

Columbia deserves better.

We call on the Columbia Association Board to hold a public hearing where the removed board members can respond to the allegations against them, present their defense with legal counsel and allow residents to “speak out” and participate in the process.

Transparency matters. Accountability matters. The voices of Columbia voters matter.

Sign this petition to demand a fair, open and public hearing for the ousted Columbia Association board members.
