Thank you for your response! Returning her to Monrovia makes far more sense than relocating or killing. Because Blondie was never the problem! The access to the structure, a public works problem, was the real issue. Killing Blondie doesn't solve anything, not does relocation. Eviction and exclusion without relocating or killing does work and prevents more problems. Thank you for being such a compassionate city for animals!

Good morning Nicole,
Thank you for sharing your email and your petition. I do want to clarify –
The City of Monrovia did NOT request the bear or her cubs be relocated. In fact, we lobbied heavily for the bears to be released back to Monrovia including contacting state legislative officials, the Office of the Governor and multiple officials with the CA Dept of Fish and Wildlife. In my time at the City of Monrovia, the City has not once lobbied, requested or even suggested relocation of wildlife. That just has not happened…not a single time.
I respectfully request you make the correction in your petition to avoid the incorrect information.
The CA Department of Fish and Wildlife made the decision to "euthanize" the bear. Despite our efforts, they made the decision. State law authorizes the Dept of Fish and Wildlife as the responsible agency for bears and other wildlife.
Thank you,
Dylan
