CURIOUS MANAGMENT DECISIONS COST ORIOLES IN 4-2 LOSS TO ROCKIES

The Baltimore Orioles suffered a 4-2 defeat against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field, halting their chance to reach a winning record. Sports Illustrated columnist Jason La Canfora highly criticized rookie manager Craig Albernaz for multiple dubious tactical decisions.
Albernaz chose to hand 23-year-old Luis DeLeon his Major League Baseball debut out of the bullpen in a tight 2-2 game during the seventh inning, despite stating earlier that day he would not throw him into the fire. Additionally, the manager sat Coby Mayo's hot bat and refrained from debuting newly acquired Luis Robert Jr..
The game turned when second baseman Jackson Holliday dropped a routine pop-up to lead off the bottom of the seventh, allowing Colorado to eventually break the tie with a two-run homer. Earlier, Holliday had tied the matchup with a solo home run. Pitcher Kyle Bradish also showed visible fatigue from past Tommy John surgery, laboring heavily through five innings on 95 pitches. With this loss, Baltimore fell to a 69-70 record, sliding 1.5 games out of the final American League Wild Card spot.
