Pathology workers are the backbone of our healthcare system, providing critical diagnostic services that inform 70% of all medical decisions.

Yet, their wages have not kept pace with the rising cost of living.

The average pathology worker earns an annual salary that is insufficient to cover basic needs such as rent, food, and transportation.

Fair wage increases of at least 9% is necessary to ensure these essential workers can afford to live. Pathology workers deserve a livable wage!

The dedicated professionals who love their work are being driven away by abysmally low wages and untenable living conditions. With no new talent entering the field due to these dismal prospects, we face a looming crisis in Australian healthcare.

In 2024 The Private Pathology advocate group, Australian Pathology have launched a Campaign advising all pathology patients to send a letter to their local MP "To keep Pathology Bulked Billed". Yet there are no plans to remove and Pathology Services from the Medicare Scheme. What Australian Pathology are asking the Federal Government for is for Medicare Indexation on Pathology Services to be increased. They want MORE Commonwealth Funds for the same, if not declining, service. They Are at it again for the 2025 Budget!!! 

Urgent action is imperative - a sector-wide wage increase is not just a necessity but a moral obligation to safeguard the integrity and sustainability of our healthcare system.
