Demand a Fair 2025 Biology Regents Exam
Demand a Fair 2025 Biology Regents Exam
The Issue
I personally felt as though i did horrible on the 2025 Biology Regents because I didn't understand anything on the test. I spent my time and effort in tutoring and studying for a test that didn’t have any of that curriculum. This has been a setback for many students like me who worked hard all year, focusing on the biology topics as outlined in the curriculum, only to be blindsided by questions irrelevant to what we were taught.
The exam included questions unrelated to our Biology courses, such as topics concerning erosion—clearly a subject that belongs to Earth and Space Science, not Biology. This glaring misalignment left many of us feeling confused and unfairly assessed on our knowledge and understanding of biological sciences. It's crucial for exams to reflect the curriculum taught in classrooms to ensure a fair evaluation of students' learning.
Not only is this issue about fairness, but it's also about the future. Many students are relying on these exam scores for college applications and scholarships. Having such an off-topic and challenging exam could jeopardize their future opportunities within school.
Therefore, we request the issuance of a new Biology Regents test for 2025 that aligns with the curriculum guidelines. If that isn't possible, we urge state officials to consider curving our test scores to reflect a fair assessment of our learned knowledge and effort.
Sign this petition to demand a fair and appropriately structured Regents exam for all Biology students so that all the efforts and hard work paid by both students and teachers throughout the academic year do not go wasted.
