Michelle was more than just another statistic; she was a beloved mother and member of our community. She had a smile and laugh that illuminated every space she was in and those all around her. She leaves behind a five year old son, family and friends who miss her dearly. Her life was tragically cut short and the circumstances surrounding her death remain shrouded in mystery. On August 6th 2023, Michelle’s mother went to Michelle’s residence and unfortunately found her body cold and blue, with Michelle’s 5 year old son holding onto her. Her mother had gone to her residence due to the fact Michelle had not been answering any of her phone calls nor texts from friends and family for several hours, which is very unlike her.

Cesar was the last adult to see her alive, yet police say he doesn’t need to be questioned. He is seen leaving Michelle’s residence in a car that did not belong to him. It was a car Michelle was borrowing from her sister in law.

We are aware that significant information and vital evidence has been ignored by the Mission Police Department and its investigators. This is not just about seeking justice for Michelle, but also about ensuring the safety of all.

The Mission Police Department continues to push back scheduled meetings with the family regarding the case. Investigators on the case have ignored Michelle’s family's phone calls and texts and there is a strong lack of empathy and unprofessionalism on their end. The most recent update on Michelle's case is that Mission PD has failed to interview anyone. They do not have anything documented for interviews for persons of interest. It has been four long difficult months since Michelle's passing and not a single thing has been done on Mission PD's end.

Due to the clear negligence demonstrated by the Mission Police Department, failure to conduct a thorough investigation, and numerous questions that have remained unanswered; we are demanding accountability. We are calling for an unbiased, comprehensive, and detailed investigation into her case and the suspicious outcomes of her autopsy. It is crucial to uncover the truth about what really happened to her. The lack of transparency and accountability thus far is unacceptable and deeply painful, retraumatizing her family further.

Michelle was loved by so many and we know that she should still be alive today. Michelle was a nurturing, compassionate, and thoughtful sister, daughter, mother, and friend. She had a positive impact on so many people that she met throughout her life. Michelle had big plans in store for her and her son. We will dearly miss her and continue to fight for accountability and justice. This is a tragic loss for our family. We deserve a full and fair investigation instead of a cover up. Anyone would truly have questions on how this could have happened. We would all want our loved ones' death to be fully investigated and determined with an official cause of death that made sense to the circumstance.
