My personal story starts 32 years back when I established my business in Grenada. Over these years, I, like many dedicated citizens, have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes. Despite our commitment to this city, we remain in the dark about how our hard-earned funds are managed.

From 2019 to 2023, our tax dollars have been utilized with no clear accounting—a situation both concerning and unacceptable. Transparency and accountability in local government are not mere wishes—they are a democratic right and fundamental to making our city a better place to live.

Therefore, this petition calls for our city council and city manager to permit an independent audit of the city's finances and books for the years 2019 to 2024, conducted by an external certified public accounting firm. This audit shouldn't be a hidden document, but it should be available to all residents of Grenada and to State Auditor Shad White’s office in non-redacted form.

Strict financial transparency allows us as Grenada residents to take informed decisions about our city's present and future and ensures that our tax dollars are spent efficiently and responsibly.
