The Issue

Like millions of students in Pakistan, I was told that education is the key to a better future. The promise of education used to shine bright, but the reality is devastatingly different. The government has continuously failed us, and it’s time for change.

Pakistan currently spends a mere 0.8% of its GDP on education, which is the lowest in South Asia. This has far-reaching consequences. We spend more money on debt servicing in a single month than we allocate to serve the educational needs of 10 million students for an entire year. This gross misallocation of resources is crippling our future.

The outcome of this negligence? 31% of university graduates are unable to find employment within six months of graduation. Our education system is falling apart, with only 38% of faculty members holding PhDs, while over 60% of universities operate below acceptable standards. This is a crisis that needs urgent intervention.

We need the government to commit to increasing our education budget to 4% of the GDP. This isn’t just a financial demand; it’s a demand for a future where students have access to quality education and job opportunities.

In addition to funding, we need a comprehensive overhaul of our outdated curriculum to ensure relevance in today's rapidly changing global landscape. Industry partnerships must be fostered to create a bridge between academia and the workforce, ensuring graduates are job-ready and industries have access to skilled professionals.

These changes are not just about improving statistics. They are about saving a generation from the disillusionment and despair that comes from broken promises and wasted potential.

Join me in demanding that the government prioritize education. Sign this petition to insist on 4% GDP allocation for education, curriculum reforms, and strategic partnerships with industry. Let's end Pakistan’s university crisis and secure a better future for all.

Sign the petition now and be a part of this crucial movement to rebuild our education system.
