Demand 24 Hour Fitness to Respect Lifetime Membership Contracts

Demand 24 Hour Fitness to Respect Lifetime Membership Contracts
The Issue
This petition does not start by saying 'we,' nor is it concerned with impressing you with phrases of legality. This petition is as simple and personal as it can be, hinged on the premise of honesty and respect for agreements made. I, the initiator of this petition, am one among many who have purchased a lifetime membership contract from 24 Hour Fitness. This contract was not easily acquired. It was a result of diligence, sacrifice and an unfaltering belief in the value of fitness for a lifetime.
For years, I obeyed the terms of my contract dutifully and without question. Payments were made religiously, irrespective of periods of non-use without a hint of compensation. Despite these personal hardships, the commitment to the agreement was never faltered until recently with 24 Hour Fitness. Previously, there was an unlawful termination of my membership, an incident that instigated a class-action lawsuit. Through this lawsuit, they were required to reinstate our memberships, but not without cost. I was forced to pay for the time that the membership was unjustly canceled in order to continue using their facilities.
Today, once again, my lifetime contract stands violated, giving way to yet another draconian measure by 24 Hour Fitness. They are attempting to cheat the small group of lifetime members to whom they made these promises. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of us who made sacrifices to be in this position and abide by the contract as it was provided to us.
It's time for us to unite and demand our right. We deserve to be respected. A contract is not just a document, but a promise, an understanding of mutual respect between two parties. Help us tell 24 Hour Fitness that it is not alright to dismiss this commitment. It is not right to exploit us.
Please, let us remind them that business ethics do matter. Stand with us. Sign this petition to demand that 24 Hour Fitness uphold and respect the terms of lifetime membership contracts as originally agreed upon.
