We, the undersigned parents and guardians, are formally advocating for the students of Deltona High School's basketball program. Over the past two academic years, we have observed a concerning lack of measurable progress in both the players' skill development and their character growth. This stagnation not only affects the students' athletic potential but also undermines their personal growth opportunities at such a crucial stage in their lives.

Several alarming issues have come to light during this period. Notably, there have been multiple concerns raised by students and parents alike regarding the culture of retaliation that persists in the environment. Students who have bravely voiced their concerns or attempted to advocate for themselves have reportedly faced repercussions. This creates a hostile environment that discourages open communication and trust, essential elements in any educational or athletic setting.

The basketball program at Deltona High School should serve as a platform for students to thrive, both athletically and personally. However, the current leadership seems to have deviated from these foundational values. We believe that it is in the best interest of our students to have a head coach who not only understands the game of basketball but also embraces the role of a mentor and leader. We need a coach who can foster an inclusive and supportive environment that nurtures young talent while instilling essential life skills.

We urge the Deltona High School administration to take action. Let's help this be the last season for him as a Head Coach Consider conducting a thorough review of the basketball program's leadership. We propose the recruitment of a new head coach who can revitalize and transform the program into one that prioritizes student development and well-being. Especially with a record 4-17 and since last year similarities of the same record. Parents are making sacrifices by transferring their kids and many talented kids are quitting.
