Reinstate Delta Airlines Direct Flight Route from Atlanta to China

Atlanta is the international hub of the south. China is the largest economy in the world. Currently, majority of major American cities have direct flights to China or within a 2-hour drive.

Atlanta is at risk of loosing billions of dollars in potential investment projects and business deals by not building a "new road" to the south. Majority of Atlanta's future business deals with China will be lost to other major cities such as Houston or Philadelphia (PHL is a two hour drive from NY).

China and Atlanta future business development will depend on engagement with second and third tier cities in China. By making it inconvenient to transit, people will have greater interest in traveling to other locations that are more convenient (Seattle, Los Angeles, New York, Houston, Boston etc.)

These cities have already seen major investments in Chinatowns and an exponential increase in Chinese tourism, investment, education and trade.

China is the world’s largest economy. Chinese students account for 60% of all international students that inject over 20 billion into the USA economy annually. Chinese tourist spent over 8 billion in 2012 in the United States while on vacation. Chinese annual arrivals will surge by 139 percent to 2.5 million visitors in the next five years, according to a new report by the U.S. Department of Commerce

With the recent signing of President Barack Obama's and Chairman Xi Jinping's landmark APEC deal to offer 10-year visas (previously visas were for 1 year) to both American and Chinese tourist--- trade, commerce and exchange will grow at a rapid pace in the coming years.

I urge all leaders, stakeholders, economic officials and citizens to strongly support this petition and reinstate an affordable direct flight from Atlanta to Shanghai or Mainland China(previously the direct flight was too expensive and not competitively priced). Initially as a 3 day a week flight (sample testing) for a minimum of 5 years. Contact your local congressman, Delta airlines, the Mayor of Atlanta and the Govoner of Georgia to show the business community and citizens of Georgia need a direct flight to Mainland, China.

Not establishing such a flight will be a severe disadvantage politically, economically and culturally to the state of Georgia and the Southeast as a whole.
