Deliveroo Riders are being assigned an order turning up to a restaurant on time to collect it and having to wait on 90% of them to cook the food for longer than 7 minutes. 

Neither Deliveroo or the restaurants care at the cost this has on the drivers. The longer the time spent waiting the less chance of picking up more delivery’s. Also for those on pay as you go insurance the time literally is money as you will be paying by the minute for insurance so it’s actually costing you more to wait for this delivery and reduces the money you would have made. 

I’m starting this petition for Deliveroo to compensate drivers a minimum £0.20 per minute waited after 7 minutes of arrival. Just eat does this in other countries, Uber does this with its taxi service so I don’t see why gig economy workers on the lowest pay should be expected to wait unreasonable time without any compensation or repercussions for the restaurant. Deliveroo say you can reject the order if it’s a long wait but they give you no compensation at all for the time you have waited in part blaming you for not wanting to sit 20 minutes for a order.
