Deliver an All-Abilities Playground at Nick Ascenzo Park, Thomastown
The issue
We, the undersigned, residents and ratepayers of Whittlesea City Council, request that the Council:
- further investigate how an all-abilities playground could be developed at Nick Ancenzo Park, Thomastown; and
- consider how the development of such infrastructure could commence through funding as part of the 2026–27 budget.
Background
- The endorsed master plan for Nick Ascenzo Reserve provides a strategic framework for improvements to this important local park, identifying short, medium and long-term improvements.
- An all-abilities playground would be a key element of this broader vision and contribute to the reserve’s role as a community focal point.
- Council has not yet committed funds to a project of this kind at the Reserve.
- An all-abilities playground in Thomastown would enable children, regardless of their circumstances to play alongside one another, support social connection among families, and provide a safe and dignified environment where no child feels excluded.
