The Pink Line ( Line 7) of Delhi Metro's phase 3 project runs through Mayur Vihar Phase 2 and would be extensively used by the community. The station has been constructed in Pocket C , Mayur Vihar Phase 2. However, the station has been currently named Vinod Nagar East - based on an adjoining area's name 

The Petition is addressed to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Delhi Government,  to give the station its right identity. Mayur Vihar Phase 2 is a large residential community of people from all walks of life. The area is known for its multi-cultural environment and rich diversity. Its also locally the commercial, transport and residential hub for most of its adjoining communities, that might be smaller in area , but are larger in population numbers.

Renaming the metro station to Mayur Vihar Phase 2, would rightfully give the residents their identity over one most important maps referred to in Delhi. This change is apt and is in accordance with the stature Mayur Vihar Phase 2 accords for Delhiites, over the last 3 decades.
