School Development and Annual Fee Waiver
School Development and Annual Fee Waiver
The Issue
On May 31, 2021 Honorable Delhi High Court passed an order allowing schools to collect the Development Fee and Annual Charges for the lockdown period in 2020 and for current 2021-22 session also with a relaxation of 15%. This decision is a big blow to already suffering masses. This decision has been taken without taking into consideration the hardships being faced by the general masses and only taking into consideration the cause of the schools. The schools have been earning since long. They are social institutions and not profit making institutions. The schools and government must support general masses in these hard times. The schools and the government should consider the hardships being faced by almost everyone. Most of us have lost our jobs; many are working on almost 50% salary cuts. The cost of living has increased due to ever increasing prices of basic necessities, food items, petrol and diesel prices due to extra tax burden, medical expenses for most of households in these hard times, and we are already in bad times not able to meet these expenses. Even the business class people are suffering because the reality is that most of the businesses have fallen to 40-50% levels and are not able to meet the basic expenses. We all are ready to pay the tution fee, but we must get relaxation of development fee and annual charges for the period when the schools are closed, as being closed their expenses have also fallen to a great extent. It is a humble request to Government of Delhi, Government of India, Honorable PM and concerned authorities to please give consideration to this issue and get these fees waived off till the schools are closed.
