Hey everyone, I don't know if this petition will make a difference but it's at least worth a shot. I've been working at Hannaford Supermarkets for the past couple of years and for a couple of months they were giving us a $2 temporary hazard pay raise for COVID-19.  This also occurred at the Food Lion stores (which is a sister company of Hannaford in the South. But just last week they took it away, which I know makes sense since it was temporary. But as we can see COVID-19 has not been a temporary thing. However, we are still being required to wear masks for the foreseeable future, and having to wear a mask implies that there is still a hazard. So I believe as do many of my co-workers that we should be getting this pay for as long as there is a hazard. We're not asking to have it forever. We deserve to have this pay and it is the right thing for this company to do especially during this time still, and they should know this. Essential workers are working every day to help give you the best customer service possible and keep the food and supplies stocked on our shelves which hopefully eases some of the stress that so many people are feeling during this time.  The corporate offices should be aware of what is fair and just, and the right thing to do. Not even just Hannaford and Food Lion but anyone who is in this line of work or similar should be getting hazard pay until there is no hazard to worry about.
