PETITION TO THE VILLAGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Village of Pleasantville, New York
REQUEST TO DEFER SCHEDULING A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE CAMPUS DRIVE REZONING PETITION UNTIL TRAFFIC REVIEW IS COMPLETE
To the Mayor and Members of the Village Board of Trustees:

We, the undersigned residents of the Village of Pleasantville and surrounding community, respectfully request that the Village Board not schedule a public hearing concerning the proposed rezoning and development of 1 & 3 Campus Drive and 8 Carey Court until all outstanding traffic studies, analyses, responses, supporting data, and related materials have been completed, submitted to the Village, reviewed by the appropriate Village professionals, and made publicly available with sufficient time for residents to meaningfully review them before the hearing.

Traffic impacts are among the most significant issues raised by the proposed development and have been a continuing subject of public concern and professional review. A public hearing should provide residents with a meaningful opportunity to comment on a complete record—not require them to respond to studies, analyses, or revisions that remain outstanding or become available only shortly before the hearing.

Scheduling the public hearing before the traffic record is complete would unnecessarily limit the public's ability to understand the potential impacts of the proposed rezoning, evaluate the applicant's conclusions, review the analyses of the Village's consultants, and provide informed comments to the Board.

WE THEREFORE RESPECTFULLY REQUEST THAT THE VILLAGE BOARD:
Not schedule the public hearing until:

All outstanding traffic studies and analyses have been completed and submitted;
Any supplemental traffic data, responses, revisions, or analyses requested by the Village, its consultants, or reviewing boards have been completed;
The Village's professional consultants have had an opportunity to review and respond to those materials;
The complete traffic-related record has been posted and made readily accessible to the public; and
Residents have been provided a reasonable period of time to review those materials before being asked to provide testimony at a public hearing.
This request is not a demand that the Board reach any particular conclusion regarding the rezoning petition. It is a request that the Village's review process be complete, transparent, deliberate, and informed before the matter advances to a formal public hearing.

A public hearing is most meaningful when the public has the information necessary to participate meaningfully.

Complete the studies. Release the information. Give residents time to review it. Then hold the hearing.

We respectfully ask the Village Board of Trustees to honor that sequence and defer scheduling the public hearing until the traffic review and supporting record are complete and publicly available.

Respectfully submitted,
