Delay Approval for Chick-fil-A's Site until Traffic Study and Safety Issues are resolved
The Issue
As residents of Hartland, we are deeply concerned about the proposed Chick-fil-A at M59 and Blaine Road. Our concern is not with Chick-fil-A as a company but primarily with the safety of our neighborhood roads and our community's wellbeing. This intersection is already dangerous, with daily traffic from school buses, trailers, and commuters. Despite our repeated complaints, the Hartland Planning Committee and Chick-fil-A have ignored the increased traffic congestion and safety risks to the community. We have submitted two formal complaints at township planning meetings, but neither has been acknowledged. This disregard for public safety and local traffic conditions shows a lack of responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of the neighborhood and commuters.
Please sign this petition to require Hartland Township and Chick-fil-A to conduct a thorough traffic impact study. This study will highlight safety and congestion concerns and help optimize roadways and traffic lights.
The American Journal of Public Health links fast-food outlet density to road traffic incidents. Adding Chick-fil-A to this troubled location will escalate dangers for local traffic, buses, and other road users.
We urge Township planners to consider the hazards of approving Chick-fil-A's proposal without an independent traffic impact study. Our concern is for the safety of our neighborhood roads and community wellbeing.
