Dear Delaware State University:

The Delaware State University (DSU) Graduating Class of 2019 has been following the developments surrounding the limited ticket issuance (8 tickets per graduate) for the upcoming Spring 2019 Graduation and we would like you to know how displeased we are by the decision to limit attendance.

Graduation is the day family, friends, alumni, and administrators come together to celebrate the accomplishments of the students who have earned their degree from this institution of higher education. Here at DSU we take pride in our family oriented environment because we all know our fellow hornets could not achieve their ultimate goals alone. It takes a village! In order to continue Delaware State University's long standing tradition of embracing everyone as family, Class of 2019 requests that the administration continues to allow open and unticketed spring outdoor graduations. The University should never suppress the number of family members and friends who want to willingly show support to their loved one(s) who have, over the last four years, worked tirelessly and made overwhelming sacrifices to receive their undergraduate/graduate degree(s) from this institution.
The University’s decision to limit family members and friends attending this graduation ceremony sets a abysmal precedence for future students who would consider attending the university
The University, should therefore, continue to accommodate all family members and friends of its Graduation Class of 2019.
The DSU graduating Class of 2019 will go on to become alumni and representatives of DSU globally, therefore the University should never compromise its students by suppressing the expression of support by their family members and friends.
