Please read and sign the petition to evict the tenants. to protect the residents and community as a whole.

On Thursday, March 26th, the community was shaken with the abrupt and swift actions of Peel Police, along with Toronto Police, as they apprehended a suspect in their investigation, 29-year-old Abdi Ismail.  The investigation is ongoing from a shooting dating back to April of 2019.

Loud bangs were heard inside and outside the building, as officers had entered the apartment.  Without any knowledge of what was actually happening, many residents were left to fear for their lives and panic at the potential of a shooting incident.   Luckily, it was a controlled situation executed by trained officers.  They were able to apprehend the suspect without anyone being physically hurt.

Investigators said they executed a search warrant at a residence on Scarlett Road in Toronto and arrested Abdi Ismail. The 29-year-old is facing a number of charges including six counts of possession of a firearm, three counts of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm and three counts of occupying a motor vehicle knowing there was unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition.

Ismail is also facing three counts of possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized, as well as one count each of possession of a firearm knowing that the serial number on it has been altered, defaced or removed and possession of a prohibited device or ammunition.

Investigators said Ismail was held for a bail hearing and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Friday, March 27th.

It is believed that the Family is well aware of the activities occurring within community property, and in their dwellings, and are either complicit or negligent in their involvement.  This remains unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

We have a right to a safe and respectful living environment in our community here, and will not tolerate dangerous activities committed by residents, tenants, or their company, whether they are complicit or not. This behaviour endangers the safety of all of us, and cannot be permitted to happen again.  The eviction of tenants who violate the safety and well being of the community should be swift and thorough.

This matter should be resolved in the utmost urgency to keep the residents of 240 Scarlett, and surrounding buildings safe from future events related to the tenants in question.

Failure to do so could result in gross negligence.

Please sign the petition to let YCC 271 and Del Property Management know that we are not willing to allow these activities to persist in our community and actions need to be taken before anyone is hurt or any more property becomes damaged.

Thank you for your consideration.
