Revise Virtual Learning For Dekalb County Schools.

The Issue

Throughout the past month, students from all over The Dekalb County School District have struggled to maintain a proper school/home balance. Dekalb County has implemented a system that encourages students to behave like automated machines. As a result, stress and anxiety has risen to a point where suicide rates have increased tremendously, proven with a study conducted by Oxford University. The virtual learning manifesto has introduced a widespread detachment of the typical orthodoxed learning system. An example of this can be easily found in students and staff themselves. While families are still trying to cope with the stress of Covid-19 and unemployment, The work load that has been given has only contributed to this stressful environment. In addition a mass majority of the students have recently developed a frivolous outlook towards learning. Virtual classes all over the state have experienced detrimental disruptions, such as e.g. nudity,drug use,and fatal events. With all of these vital ideals put into perspective we as a student body have composed a solution. We believe that teachers should give a resonable work load that covers all lessons for 2-4 weeks. During this time teachers should be mandated to either assign videos for the lesson or host tutorials. At the end of these time periods students will turn in the required amount of work for a plethora of grades e.g. 1 grade per standard. We also believe that work should be submitted and assigned through verge exclusively, in addition work should be reduced for non core classes. If this system is implemented, virtual learning will become a smoother experience for teachers and students alike.
