Coach Mattair is an upstanding citizen with an amazing coaching and educational background. As the current Varsity Football Coach of Chamblee High, he has been a mentor to the boys on the team as well as demonstrated strong leadership values. Coach Mattair is a well-rounded individual who has been responsible for creating many new experiences for many young adults who may and/or may not have a positive father-like figure in their lives. He has taken kids on college tours, brought around positive speakers and other mentors, assisted with college applications and scholarships that has prepared the students for a bright future. Coach Mattair is an admirable educator and has become a positive role model which is key in raising children in this society.

The recent event that occurred over the past few weeks in regards to placing Coach Mattair on Administrative Leave has left myself and other parents baffled. As a parent of a child on the Varsity Football team, the children (in this case young men) this incident has put an impression that teamwork, camaraderie, and encouragement amongst the boys is shunned upon by the DeKalb County School District.  These students attend a Public school, which intern means diversity.  Growing up in San Francisco myself has allowed me to experience a diverse up bringing to accept all lifestyles and prepared me to deal with life's adversities. The attributes mentioned are what builds character and Coach Mattair and I aspire to instill in the boy's, as they are becoming young adults.  

Coach Mattair had no knowledge of my son before he recruited him for the team. When he called me to inquire if he would be able to work out with the team I told him "NO". At that time, my son was not doing very well in school and plainly was not eligible to be on any sports team.  In fact, I was preparing to enroll my son into military school. Coach Mattair took it upon himself to talk with my son, assist my son in speaking with the teachers to obtain make up work along with assistance in completing missing assignments. Coach Mattair instructed my son to report to office to ensure he competed the schoolwork before school, on open periods and after school. Coach Mattair then called me back to tell me he has been working with my son and would keep an eye out for him so he can help him succeed. My son's grades improved within weeks and he went from failing four classes to passing all of his classes. Coach Mattiar spoke to my son about his future and how he should attain and reach his highest potential.  

As a single parent, raising my son alone, I cannot be more than grateful to this man for taking his time out for a student that he is not assigned to teach to ensure he has the best advantage on passing and being successful in life. Ultimately, Coach Mattair's efforts are invaluable and he is instrumental in young adult's lives.

Coach Mattair is not about just winning football games but winning at life.  He is a positive being, a leader, a mentor, a husband, and father who has shown nothing but positivity and promotion.  He does not deserve to be ostracized, his lively hood jeopardized or reputation tarnished.  I demand Coach Mattair is reinstated back to work expeditiously so that he may continue to do his good works!
