Stronger Police Presence in Dekalb County

Atlanta is unfortunately well known for it's increasing crime rates. We are told to leave our car doors unlocked, move all of our belongings out of sight yet still our windows are being smashed and our once safe family neighborhoods are becoming crime-infested.

CrimeMapping website takes (most, not all of) local police reports and compiles them onto a map with a time frame. Within 6 months and one mile from my home, there has been over 90 reports of car break-ins alone. This doesn't include the - theft, assaults, car theft or burglaries. This is simply just car break ins. This averages out to roughly 4 break ins per week.

This problem is consistently reported but nothing is being done about it. No repercussions for the criminals - our neighborhoods are becoming easier targets for them to come, take and go as they please. We can continue to leave things out of our cars but nothing is safe in Dekalb County anymore... without help and enforcement from the law.

This petition is for the Dekalb County Police Department or Atlanta Police Department to help make our streets safer with nightly patrols. If we allow this type of behavior to go unchecked... what's next for us?
