Many Canadians, including us (the petitioners), approached the Federal government to bring forth healthcare issues. Good news, the government is finally taking action! Your continued support has been essential in driving the change to come. The journey to efficiency in healthcare will be long as there is a lot of work to be done.
Federal government is going to measure progress and deliver results as noted in Jenna Sudds' (MP) communication.
The federal government has provided the provinces and territories with almost $200 billion in new federal funding for urgent and long-term healthcare system improvements. $74 billion of this funding will go to Ontario. However the new funding is conditional to achieving results in five target key priority areas:
Five Targets of the Federal Healthcare Plan:
1. Hiring more family doctors, nurses and nurse practitioners
2. Reducing surgical and diagnostic Backlogs
3. Making Mental Health & substance abuse services accessible
4. Recruiting, retaining and recognizing the credentials of internationally educated health health professionals
5. Modernizing healthcare Data Sharing to enable Canadians to seamlessly access their own health information electronically
I want to congratulate each and everyone of you for standing strong in this journey. Our journey to an efficient healthcare system has just begun! We will continue monitor these developments till we can realize actual change. I request each of you to continue sharing the petition to your social network. Thank you!
