We, the residents of North Kirklees and Birstall, are deeply concerned about the ongoing neglect and targeting of our area by Kirklees Council. Time and again, we have had to unite to defend our essential public services from closure. Now, they are threatening to close the Birstall Waste and Recycling Centre on Nab Lane—a crucial facility for our community.

Fly-tipping is already a significant issue in our area, and closing this recycling centre will only exacerbate the problem, leading to increased illegal dumping and environmental degradation. This closure is yet another example of the council’s continued targeting of North Kirklees and Birstall, areas which have already suffered from underinvestment and the loss of public services.

We demand that Kirklees Council stops its systematic attacks on our community. Instead of closing our vital public facilities, the council should invest in North Kirklees and Birstall, ensuring we receive the funding and services we deserve. Our area deserves better, and we will not stand by while our community is neglected.
