Justice for Trooper Evan Donaldson

My husband is an SAS soldier, I am a General Practitioner and we are parents to our beautiful 2 year old daughter, Poppy. This petition calls on the Defence Minister, Senator the Hon Marise Payne to ensure that Trooper Evan Donaldson and his family are afforded justice.
Six years ago, in August 2009, Evan was serving in a full-time position as a Special Forces soldier in the Australian Army preparing to deploy again to Afghanistan. The following month he was removed from his Unit, stripped of his rank and he never served in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) again. For five years, Evan worked without pay to understand what happened to his career and why. He used the Freedom of Information Act to gather documents that he hoped would provide the answer. In February 2014 he provided the then Defence Minister, Senator David Johnston over 800 pages of documents that not only proved his identity but implicated dozens of senior ADF Officers and Department of Defence bureaucrats in what can now be described as the most significant allegations of corruption and cover up in Australian Defence Force history. Evan's signature was forged, documents destroyed, others back-dated, false statements corroborated all to justify the illegal changing of his identity on the Commonwealth database. On the 26 May 2015 Evan's rank and identity was fully restored to that of SAS Trooper. To date, no independent investigation has been conducted, no explanation has been provided and no compensation paid to our family for Evan's loss.
We call on the Defence Minister, Senator the Hon Marise Payne to order an independent investigation into who fraudulently changed Evan's identity, restore Evan's position in the ADF, and compensate our family.
