The Issue

My Grandpa, Gerry Timm, who you all know as “Timmer” always came to my soccer games, knew the stats of every player on the field, and always showed his support for me and my twin. When I was younger, I thought this was a unique experience because I was his grandkid, but I later realized he did this for the majority of Williamsville-Sherman athletes.

His dedication to our athletic program has made him an incredibly influential figure in and around Williamsville athletics ever since 1966.

He was one of the original football coaches, and stayed with the program until his retirement in 2000. He also coached track and field and basketball. As the head coach of the Bullets Baseball Team for 17 years, he built a strong program along with relationships that have lasted a lifetime. It’s truly incredible how he can still name his player’s stats, their records, and what the weather was that day. Although he retired 23 years ago, to this day, you can still find him in the bleachers, wearing a WHS baseball cap, with his signature wave.

While teaching at Williamsville, he made a huge impact on every kid he taught, which in Drivers Ed. alone figures to about 1000-1500 students. As J.D. Woolard said in the Class of 2000 Yearbook, “It is impossible to repay the debt owed to a man who dedicated his life to our well-being.” Therefore, I am petitioning that Williamsville Schools honor his 57 years of positive impact on our athletics by dedicating the WHS Baseball field to Gerry “Timmer” Timm.
