Declaring more funding for students mental health support
The Issue
Many of my friends have had experience with Mental health difficulties and its one of schools main jobs to prevent this or to help students through this . We need to normalise mental health difficulties and help create a safer environment for students. There is no where near enough support in schools , most teachers don't realise when something is wrong .Young peoples mental health affects there attendance therefore limiting there education and opportunity in the future . This is an issue that is rapidly increasing and the government needs to take action .
For example the government could put more funds towards sports facilities as the NHS has said that exercise is one of the best things we can do for our mental health . Our bodies release feel-good hormones therefore reducing anxiety and stress. As well as this by increasing teachers training regarding mental health issues , students can feel safer and more supported at school .However overall we believe that the government and education system need provide more funding towards mental health support in schools as a young person’s mental health links to many issues that schools have to deal with including behaviour, attendance and drug use.
Another important impact of mental is young peoples safety . The annualised rate of self harm incidents in 2023 per 100 children and young people was 560 incidents . This is a shocking amount and needs to be dealt with. The government needs to take action increase school funding , increase teachers training so many possibilities which would all have positive outcomes. Sign this petition , raise awareness and help the next generation live a happier and easier life .
