Declare November 30th, 2024, as Small Business Saturday in Apopka

Declare November 30th, 2024, as Small Business Saturday in Apopka
The Issue
As passionate advocates for our hometown of Apopka, we’ve seen firsthand the impact our local small businesses have on our community. From providing resources and services to creating a unique identity for our beloved city, these businesses drive growth and fuel the economy. With a particular focus on reviving historic downtown Apopka, we urge the city to acknowledge the role small businesses play in creating a vibrant and thriving community.
Every year, in the United States, small businesses create two-thirds of net new jobs and drive U.S. innovation and competitiveness. In fact, they represent an astounding 99.7% of all businesses with employees (U.S. Small Business Administration, 2018). Given these facts, recognizing the importance of small businesses and encouraging shopping local is more than just a symbolic gesture – it directly contributes to the health and prosperity of our city.
Hence, we propose that the city of Apopka officially recognize Saturday, November 30th, 2024 as Small Business Saturday, in accordance with the SBA’s national recognition of this effort. This will not only honor and spotlight our homegrown enterprises but also encourage all residents and visitors to shop local and shop small on this day and during the holiday season.
Apopka city’s categorical recognition of Small Business Saturday will send a powerful message - that we believe in the value of entrepreneurship, community spirit, and the power of local investment. Let us together bring about this declaration. Show your support by signing this petition. Together, we can create a ripple effect that will strengthen our economy, further develop our community, and revitalize downtown Apopka.
