Mattie J.T. Stepanek Peace Day petition headed to a “Resolution on the floor today!” What this means: Maryland Senators Barbara Mikulski and Ben Cardin will be introducing a resolution today (July 17 – Mattie’s birthday) for Mattie J.T. Stepanek Peace Day. Prior to this action, the petition effort has involved letter-writing to President Barack Obama, and gathering petition signatures (more then 6,200 so far). Now, the petition is being worded for a congressional resolution, and the nation’s lawmakers will be asked to pass this peace resolution later this summer. What you can do to support this: 1) One minute for peace: Continue to encourage people to sign the petition (sign here: http://t.co/4SNWNC1D6Y). 2) Five minutes for peace: Download our Ready-to-Sign letter (here: http://www.mattieonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/2014-Peace-Day-Support-NEW.pdf ) and send it to your state representatives, encouraging them to sign the proposed peace day legislation. You may also send the letters to Mattie’s Foundation, and we will forward them for you. Finding e-mail or postal addresses for your representatives is easy using these links – • Find your state Senators: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm • Find your state Congressional representatives: http://www.house.gov/representatives/find/ One person can make a difference, together, we can create change. Please, keep up the momentum. Let’s “make peace the news!” Thank you! Jeni Stepanek, Ph.D. Executive Director, Mattie J.T.
