Dear Saskatchewan, Emotional and Psychological Abuse IS Abuse!
The Issue
My name is Sarah, and I am a fourth-year student with the faculty of social work at the University of Regina. I have dedicated the majority of my studies to focus on gender-based violence and what can be done to support the prevention and education of this severe social issue.
Saskatchewan currently has one of the least inclusive definitions of family violence, excluding emotional and psychological forms from their definition of abuse and lacking in terms of defensive violence. As my open letter to Premier Honorable Scott Moe will demonstrate trauma caused from emotional and psychological abuse should be taken seriously. This can start by including such definition as stated above in gender-based violence policies and laws throughout Saskatchewan, as several other provinces and territories across Canada have already done.
In addition to signing this petition, please see the attached link - a Google Form with the letter included with the research links included, which will be forwarded to the office of Premier Moe, along with other relevant MLA offices.

While some of the opinions, experiences, and beliefs are my own, may be reflective or close to what you or someone you know has experienced. I kindly request of you to read through, consider signing and sharing with others.
