More than 150 Members of the Parliament, including Shashi Tharoor, Jairam Ramesh, Meenakshi Lekhi, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Anubhav Mohanty and Pinaki Mishra have already signed this petition.

Moreover, our Hon’ble Prime Minister made an open appeal to the citizens of this nation to care for the animals that are as much a part of this nation as we are. Yet, our systemic lethargy continues to allow injustices towards animals to be meted out in several forms.

The bill was not brought up for discussion in the previous session of the parliament, and animals across the country are still subject to gruesome cruelty, as they continue to be beaten, tortured, poisoned, maimed and killed, with nothing to ensure that those inflicting such cruelty are deterred or brought to justice. Millions of animals in contact with humans suffer every day with the only hope that this petition provides the necessary emphatic thrust required to move our leaders into action. As our archaic laws remain unchanged, it is time for our collective conscience to transcend imagined boundaries and step across the threshold into a reality of empathetic coexistence.

Our animals need each of us, as citizens of a prosperous nation, to lend our voices in support of our collective demand for justice for the poorest of the poor. As we present a renewed and reinvigorated appeal, let’s urge our policy makers to bring the bill into the parliament for a debate this upcoming winter session, 2021. Please lend your voices for the ones that do not know how to raise their voices or to sign and share our petition #NoMore50
