After coming across a recent article written by Ryan Kost of the New York Focus, titled, “Who Do Prosecutors Blame for Wrongful Convictions? Apparently Not Themselves,” it became apparent as to why Andraus McCloud is still in prison after 19 years. Myself and other supporters have discovered iron-clad proof of prosecution misconduct and newly discovered evidence that points towards Andraus’ innocence.
The blatant misconduct by the prosecution may be the reason why his motion for relief from judgement has gone unanswered since it was submitted back on January 27, 2023. Newly discovered evidence includes evidence from the actual murderer stating how Andraus was not involved. This is important because although this person clearly killed the victim in this case, he was given a deal in which he testified that Andraus killed the victim. He is now telling the truth. Whether you believe Andraus is “actual” or “factually” innocent it’s a matter of personal opinion. He IS INNOCENT and did NOT receive a fair trial.
Andraus was acquitted of all weapons charges and was sentenced to 80-125 years. In the article mentioned above, a chief of Conviction Integrity Unit stated, “If I … started blowing up prosectors careers, even if they deserve it, you know how much success I’m going to have after that?”
This statement is sickening when a prosecution’s obligation is to present the truth – whether people like it or not. How can someone help administer justice when they foolishly imagine that they are defending the truth, when in reality they are offending their own interest and reputation? An officer in this case tampered with evidence.
Any fair-minded person can see that the treatment Andraus is receiving is anything but normal. The prosecutor who tried Andraus in 2007 in now a judge and is married to the most influential attorney in Genesee County Michael Manley. The judge in this case (Archie Hayman) stepped down and began working as an attorney for this prosecutor’s husband (Manley & Manley Law Firm). Before doing so, Hayman stated to others that he was willing to represent Andraus and how he had some great issues.
During a recorded call Andraus asked Hayman (his sentencing judge) what he thought of the pending motion and Hayman responded, “Factually, everything is there.” After accepting the job from the Manleys, Hayman informed Andraus’ mother that he could no longer help Andraus.
Recently ABC 12 news released an article stating that Archie Hayman and attorney Michael Manley contributed significantly to the release of Horrace Peterson. Peterson’s motion was filed on 5/8/25 and heard in the court on 5/9/25, which resulted in his release FIVE DAYS LATER. This shows the power Manley & Manley law firm has in Genesee County. Some other cases in Genesee County that have gotten almost immediate responses to their motions filed with the SAME court as Andraus were Lawrence Snelson, Turok Woods and Donte Coleman just to name a few, which some of these motions were submitted over a year AFTER Andraus.
