As part of the nursing program, at Rutgers-Camden nursing students, juniors usually start in fall of junior year. But due to COVID-19, junior nursing students were unable to have clinicals in person and were forced to have it online. Not only that, the seniors were able to get clinicals and as well as the ABS nursing students. In August, we were promised to have boot camps to help with our foundation of nursing (i.e nursing skill set). However, it was cancelled for juniors and was only given to seniors and ABS nursing students. Due to that, we were hoping to still be able to get clinical experience coming spring break semester, and with hopes that the COVID-19 would get better. However, we were sent an email that seniors would be clinicals again and others would be able to have in-person hybrid labs or clinicals, while we would have online clinicals. We are hoping that this petition will help the coordinators see the impact their decision has made on us as current nursing students and as future nurses. It is robbing us of vital experience that we need prior to becoming a nurse. Our goal is to gain some sort of experience, whether it be clinicals, in-person labs, or hybrid to provide us with more hands-on experience that we can use for our future profession.
