Save Punjabi at Sacramento State

Save Punjabi at Sacramento State
Why this petition matters
As members of the Sacramento State community it is deeply disappointing that Punjabi is being discontinued after 18 years of being a part of our University. Not only is Punjabi a widely sought after class within the Punjabi community it also gives the opportunity for non-Punjabi students to learn about Punjabi and it's roots here in California. Many students have reached out with frustration as to why Punjabi has been cancelled, especially since it is a class many students are eager to take in Fall 2020. Punjabi is an integral part of California's history and it's cancellation is a disservice to Punjabi's 100 year old history in Sacramento and California. We believe students and community members deserve a chance to voice their concerns regarding this move. We hope that the University can re-evaluate this decision and discuss this further.
